weekend recap: paddle board fishing

It’s true. I wrote an article on the subject, but had not actually participated in said activity. Before you shake your head, wait! Paddle board fishing is exactly what I did over the weekend, and I am a convert. It. Is. Awesome. Wobbly, but awesome.

We headed to the beach with some pals for the weekend with the anticipation of fishing from the dock and in the creeks behind the house, paddle boarding, and just your general fun in the sun activities. Why not combine them all? Bam. Instant way to entertain me for hours on end.

Hellooo short work week! Anyone else getting excited about the 4th festivities coming up? I know I am… ‘Merica, right?

IMG_1032Over the weekend, we headed to Georgetown to do a little fishing, some paddle boarding, and just take it easy in general. It has cooled down some since our crazy heat wave a couple of weeks go, and the weather was glorious – just enough cloud cover and perfect for getting out on the water and wetting a line or two.

Hello hello! That probably sounds like I am more peppy than I actually am on this Monday… Mondays are the worst, huh? Can’t it already be Friday again? Ahh, such is life, I guess! Anyway – enough complaining. Not a whole lot has been happening on the hunting or fishing front lately, although it’s not for lack of trying! I did catch a little bass (below) on the pond behind our neighborhood, though. Better than nothing, right?

Happy [almost] Memorial Day weekend, friends! I’m sorry for the far and few between posts… It’s been a little hectic around here! BUT! Last week I had the opportunity to go cobia fishing out of Beaufort, and we could not of asked for a better day. The weather was perfect and we were able to take our 21 foot boat close to 30 miles offshore. We had the boat in the water by about 630 with the goal of catching bait before heading out to the Betsy Ross to try our hand at the cobia. It was a beautiful morning and we had high hopes for the day.

It’s Friday! It’s Friday! Who else is super pumped? Yes, it is the weekend (at last), but don’t forget what else that means… Duck season opens tomorrrrowwwww around here. YES. But! Before I get all distracted, I will share with you the 3rd & final video from our honeymoon in Belize – a quick compilation of 3 days of bonefishing! back & forth – weekend recap continued

As I mentioned, we did a little bit of dove hunting and a little bit of fishing over last weekend. The constantly changing weather made it a little difficult to plan ahead for our activities, so we basically flew by the seat of our pants. Start to see a few doves come into the field? Let’s get out there and sit. No doves flying? Let’s try our luck on the pond. Procrastinating getting in the car to drive back to Charleston? Let’s get back in that dove field for a little while! That is truly how our day went.

Happy Monday, friends! I have something rather exciting for you today. Do you remember when I mentioned that John and some guys fished in the Lowcountry Tarpon Tournament? Well, I finally had time to get through their GoPro footage of the weekend… As you can recall, we have been after the [apparently] elusive tarpon several times recently to no avail. I know, I know, Hollis. Quit telling us about how you didn’t actually catch a tarpon. Right?
