How to Hire a Hunting Guide or Outfitter: Boyd’s Hardwood Gun Stocks

When it comes to planning a hunt, the options are endless. Some hunts require little more than a loose timeline, a packed lunch, and a loaded gun, but others can be much more daunting, even for an experienced hunter. A turkey hunt one county over is a far cry from stalking elk through the Rockies, but if you’ve never done either, you’re still starting from square one.

That’s where hunting guides and hunting outfitters come in – someone else with the knowledge and skill to help close the gap between you and the game you chase.

But, don’t be fooled – the two titles are not mutually exclusive.

what do deer eat around here?

In case you didn’t already see, I put together an article on exactly what foods deer love the most around these parts, and I wanted to share it with my fellow hunters/blog followers. Whitetails aren’t exactly picky eaters, but it’s important that they get enough nutrition year-round. weekend recap: too early?

Anyone else wondering where this chilly weather came from, and what happened to that glorious 70* weekend we had not too long ago? This girl, for sure. Hello, friends! I sat down to finish this post last night and realized how long it has been since I have posted. This summer is doing 2 things – passing so quickly that I don’t realize how much time is flying, and dragging on until the next hunting season. This has really been such a busy summer that even leisurely fishing opportunities seem far and few between. Ahh, such is life. I guess it could be worse!

America

A few months ago, while we were shed hunting, I noticed a bald eagle circling high above us monitoring the waters of Winyah Bay and the Intracoastal. Occasionally, it would dip out of sight behind the marsh grass as it dove for a fish. I kept hearing another eagle’s call (well, scream, really – such an intimidating noise), but couldn’t figure out where the noise was coming from. Taking  my shed hunt to another area, a little further from the water, I spotted the eagle again, sitting high on an outstretched pine tree branch. I got my binoculars out to zoom in for a better look, and noticed the big ol’ bird was eying a nearby pine.
